LIVE: Delilah @ KOKO, Camden
London Singers Star Shines Bright!
North London singer Delilah was thrust into the public eye when she appeared on Chase and Status single ‘Time’, a song which she co-wrote herself, in 2011. Since then her buzz has been building and building: she released single ‘Go’, which samples Chaka Khan’s ‘Ain’t Nobody’, last year and also appeared on the shortlist for MTV’s Brand New For 2012.
But on April 24th, it was time for the 21 year-old to take her stand in the spotlight for her first UK headline tour. Delilah, real name Paloma Stoecker, sold out KOKO London for one of her many live dates this Summer.
Ms Dynamite took to the stage before Delilah, giving the audience much delight when she began her set with the famous ‘Dy-na-mi-tee’. She then performed more recent collaborations she has had with the like of Magnetic Man (‘What You Talking ‘Bout?’) and Labrinth (‘Neva Soft’): the perfect tracks to warm the audience up.
Then it was time for the lady herself. Delilah took to the stage, looking stunning in a full length, metallic dress. She performed her own songs such as ‘Love You So’ as well as covering Jean Jacques Smoothie’s ‘2 People’ and her interpretation of Sia’s ‘Little Man’.
The singer proved she is more than capable of performing without her previous collaborators and even showed off her skills on the keyboard for an acoustic performance of ‘Cinababy’, ‘Time’ and ‘Come Home’. For the encore Delilah treated the audience to ‘Go’ and new single ‘Breathe’, which will be released next month. Delilah’s voice was note-perfect throughout and filled KOKO with a mix of strength and emotion.
Delilah is one to watch without a doubt and 2012 is sure to be a huge year for this talented lady.
