Dropout UK @ Pixie Lott Lipsy Range Launch

Ms Lott Is Given A Second Run...

Pixie’s first collection for Lipsy was a treat so I was eagerly awaiting the beautiful singers second one. Celebrity clothing lines are always tricky, the best drawing inspiration from an individual's ideas on style, the worst unashamedly cloning a star's wardrobe. Lott's collection is undeniably a bit of a mish mash, but not necessarily in a bad way. Florals, body con, seventies palazzo pants, she crams it all in, but there a few pieces that really stand out.

The angel all over studded dress is a real highlight, combining Chlo? inspired nude tones with tough studding. The same goes for the cropped embellished tops, which are great for playing with proportions and pairing with a high waist. The chiffon cape dresses, particularly the one shoulder variety, were a tad generic, as were the Christopher Kane-esque cosmic print bandeau styles. All in all a definite lack of consistency but a few gems along the way. Not bad at all Pixie, not bad at all.

To showcase this new collection in the Swarovski shop across the road from Liberty was nothing short of delightful. Admiring the beautiful jewels whilst waiting to be let upstairs I noticed a dancing Louis Spence. At first I thought it was an awkward dream, it wasn’t and I was left chuckling at the sight of his flailing limbs.

Inside the people huddled together, pristinely made up, smiling, teeth glistening. The models began to exhibit the collection while the seated ladies gazed at them in an over analytical way, scanning their every move. The two girls who had won a competition to model for the collection were also here and strutted down the catwalk, with the sound of clapping filling the room with extra buzz. Pixie walked out, looking as perfect as ever and with her thank you speech over, it was time to hit the free bar and collection of tasty delights.

The free drinks kept everyone smiling and the exquisite chocolate mousse kept everyone lusting. I held back from stuffing my face full of free sushi, I simply gazed at it from afar and thought about how I could empty the contents in a bag without people noticing…. Louis Spence could dance on the other side of the room maybe hmmm…

With the after party at Movida, I needed the help of Katie Waissel (I never thought I would say that) to get in to the VIP area. The big bottles of vodka made everyone twirl and limbs flail. The beauteous people were out in force and soon a whole host of celebrities entered Movida’s ornate surroundings such as JLS and Tinchy Stryder. The rest of the night I will keep to myself as it involves lots of moves out of the Louis Spence book.

Pixie, you are much loved and very pretty and even though your collection isn’t the most awe inspiring, it will undoubtedly do well. Of course it will. Love and hugs.
