Girlguiding Big Gig 2009!

Girlguiding Pull Off A Chart-Toppers Free-For-All!!

We headed up to Wembley Arena on Saturday for The Girlguiding Big Gig 2009 show! I know what your thinking ‘Girlguiding… Did you guys go to pick up home-made cookies and brownies or something?’ Well no, we didn’t particularly go for the brownies, but the food in the press area was mighty scrumptious if I do say so myself… Amazing Prawn Sandwiches! We were actually in attendance as every year, the Girlguiding Big Gig takes place in honour of girl guides throughout the UK, and 2009 was in celebration of 100 years of Brownies and Guides!

It was a completely star-studded line-up at Wembley Arena, with performances from all the UK artists who have secured 1-3 positions in the charts over the past 6 months - Pixie Lott, JLS, Tinchy Stryder, The Saturdays, Alexandra Burke, Chipmunk, Alphabeat, The Noisettes, Taio Cruz and Scouting For Girls. N-Dubz were the only absentees who pulled out at the last minute. All artists gave the assembly of screaming girls a show they’ll find difficult to forget.

We pride ourselves on our honesty here at Dropout, so with that being said, we have to admit to not having actually completed an official review of the performances in the main arena. We'll hang our heads in shame... Where do we start… We were taking advantage of the buffet and free bar, whilst artists came in and out of the interview area. Everyone was watching the performances from the live feed in the press area, and whilst we enjoyed great conversation amongst ourselves, we decided to do the same (do I here the sound of sheep…). We promise you this will never happen again… Unless the same caterers are at another event!

Anyways, we can still offer you a quick summary of performances (How'd you like that!):

Pixie Lott dazzled in a LBD with embellished shoulders as she belted out Mama Do and Boys and Girls.

Alexandra Burke belted out Bad Boys in a one-shouldered sequin blue dress.

Tinchy Stryder got an awesome response from the girls when he cracked out Take Me Back and fan favourite Number One!

Never the type of guys to miss out on a big line-up, JLS were making the ladies swoon with Everybody In Love and a few more of their hits.

Man of the moment, Chipmunk, must be feeling on top of the world at the moment! Not only did he top the UK charts last week, but days later he ended up onstage at The Big Gig with thousands of fans screaming for him. Not a bad life for him, eh?!

Sporting colourful playsuits and pulling together some girl power, The Saturdays got up to perform hits such as Up and Issues!

We love Taio Cruz's Break Your Heart, and he had the whole crowd of girls singing along to it over the weekend!

Multi-talented Shingai of the Noisettes showed she's got the voice and the guitar skills as she rocked out to Don't Upset The Rhythm in a futuristic gold dress.

We've got some great interviews coming up for you from the event, and we also managed to grab some awesome shots, click ‘More Images’ above to have a look!

Girlguiding and Big Gig 2009 pulled off an amazing show! Rob and all the team at Big Gig… We salute you!
