LIVE: Wiz Khalifa @ O2 Academy, Brixton
Taylor Gang Hits The UK
On September 27th Brixton’s O2 Academy played host to Wiz Khalifa, as he took to the stage for the London date of his UK tour.
Support for the evening came in the shape of Tuki Carter from Taylor Gang and the man behind viral hit ‘All Gold Everything’, Trinidad James. The two entertained the waiting crowd and fans were enjoying the performances so much that James ran over his set time by 20 minutes.
Once Wiz was finally welcomed to the stage he rocked a bright blue shorts-tracksuit complete with a BOY London t-shirt underneath.
The rapper treated audiences to hits from his back catalogue - rather than concentrate on tracks from his latest album, ‘O.N.I.F.C’. Highlights included 2008’s ‘Say Yeah’, ‘The Thrill’, ‘Gang Bang’, ‘Ink My Whole Body’ and ‘Young Wild and Free’.
Wiz dedicated a few moments during the gig to his well-known love for marijuana, at one point taking a break to speak to the audience about how much he loves smoking. This then led to track ’Still Blazin' which was performed in front of bright green lighting. Although fans took this as an opportunity to light up themselves they were quickly reprimanded by security.
Wiz also talked about his love of tattoos, and at one point took off his top to show off his impressive collection.
As the gig came to an end, Wiz went out with a bang with the song that gained him worldwide recognition, ‘Black and Yellow’. It was the perfect end to an energetic, rave-like gig that proved that Wiz Khalifa is one of the most fun, but still extremely talented, rappers of today.
