2013 was a great year for new music, particularly home grown talent, so this was a really difficult task! We eventually resorted to adding a 'Long List' to the initial 10, to ensure all those we believe will have a great 2014 were mentioned.

MNEK is a 19 year-old singer/songwriter/producer from London. Having already been nominated for a Grammy and produced for stars like Rudimental, Little Mix, Tinie Tempah and Duke Dumont, this guy’s star shows no sign of falling soon. He wrote one of the biggest hits of the year (‘Need U (100)’) and we can’t wait for more smashes to come.

Ella Eyre

Having featured on two of Rudimental’s hit singles, Ella Eyre’s voice has been all over the radio in 2013. With her debut single ‘Deeper’ about to be released and a debut album on the way, there’s no slowing down for this BRIT Critics' Choice Award nominee.

Sampha burst onto the mainstream this year when he collaborated on two mega hits with Drake. The singer/songwriter/producer has also worked with the likes of Jessie Ware, SBTRKT and Solange Knowles. Having already released his ‘Dual’ mixtape this year, fans are hoping for a studio album in the near future.

Rixton are a four-piece pop/ R&B band made up of Jake, Charley, Danny and Lewi. The boy-band are already making waves with their debut single ‘Make Out’ and we’re sure they have more hits up their sleeves for 2014.

Jhené Aiko

Jhené Aiko may be unknown to some but she has already worked with some of the biggest names in the business, with collaborations with Big Sean, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Drake under her belt. Currently on tour with Drizzy, Jhené is gearing up for the release of her debut album ‘Souled Out’ next year.

Kwabs is a London based artist hailing from Ghana, who effortlessly blends hip-hop, gospel and R&B using one of the most powerful voices to have emerged in the last few years. A student of jazz at London’s Royal Academy of Music, the balance and control in his vocal is outstanding, especially in his single 'Last Stand'.

Gorgon City

Gorgon City is an English electronic music duo, consisting of North London producers Foamo and RackNRuin (also known as Kye and Matt.) Having already worked with Yasmin on her ‘Real’ EP, the duo are set to release their collaboration with fellow Dropout Class Of 2014 Shortlist-er MNEK in 2014.

Sam Smith

Sam Smith, a.k.a. the voice of 2 of the biggest tracks of the 2013, ‘Latch’ and ‘La La La’, is coming into his own spotlight. Having just won the BRIT Critics' Choice Award, the 21 year-old recently signed a deal with Capitol Records and his debut album is expected in the spring.

Chance The Rapper

Chance The Rapper may only be 20 years-old but he’s well on his way to becoming one of the best rappers in the game. His debut album ‘Acid Rap’ received critical acclaim and resulted him embarking on a worldwide ‘Social Experiment’ tour and landing a spot on Rolling Stone’s ‘Best Of 2013’ list.

Chloe Howl

The third and final BRIT Critics' Choice Award nominee, Chloe Howl has certainly made a name for herself this year. Sparky, upfront and brutally honest, this 18 year-old has garnered a legion of fans thanks to her Lily Allen-like quality.
